Executive Team
Doug Schaedler, President and CEO
Mr. Schaedler is a veteran of the innovation management software and services industry. Most recently he served as President and CEO of Innovaro, Inc, a leading innovation software and services (SaaS) provider. As CEO, Mr. Schaedler managed a team of 150 professionals and oversaw the funding and development of the Company’s innovation software platform: LaunchPad. As CEO, he also oversaw the development of a global network of 2,000 universities and national labs and in doing so he managed the successful completion of over 100 intellectual property (IP) global licensing transactions.
Prior to his six-years with Innovaro, Mr. Schaedler was a Principal in a New York based venture capital firm and before that served in Corporate Development at VerticalNet Inc. He has significant startup and capital raising experience, having previously founded two internet-based consumer crowd-sourcing businesses.
Mr. Schaedler holds an M.B.A in finance and economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.A. in economics from Tufts University; he is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Frank Kovacs, Chief Marketing Officer
Mr. Kovacs brings more than 20 years of enterprise software sales and marketing leadership to inno360. In this role, Mr. Kovacs is responsible for Sales, Marketing, and ownership for the executive relationships and long term partnerships with inno360. He has served on numerous industry committees on software automation, and managed global sales and marketing efforts for three public software companies.
Prior to inno-360, Mr. Kovacs held several key executive positions at MSC Software including VP Global Channels, VP Corporate Strategy and M&A, VP Strategic Alliances, and Executive Sponsor IBM Global Strategic Alliance.
Mr. Kovacs held executive positions at SupportSoft, as Vice President of Strategic Sales and Strategic partner development, and Portal Software, including vice president of the IBM global strategic alliance, vice president and general manager of Australia and New Zealand, and vice president of corporate communications. Mr. Kovacs was the vice president of strategic alliances at EDS PLM Solutions and also held several executive positions at SDRC prior to its acquisition by EDS in 2001, including vice president of sales and marketing, Asia Pacific.
Doug Dennis, CFO
Doug serves as the CFO and Vice President, Strategic Partnering. In this role, Mr. Dennis is responsible for partner strategy development and implementation which includes building relationships with the portfolio of companies across the knowledge spectrum required to support the inno360 Open Innovation platform including networks of content, community, application, and service providers.
Prior to joining inno360, Doug consulted in advisory and management capacities to a number of internet technology ventures and startups. He has been involved in several startups including Mobile Feast, Net Shorts, D2 Commerce, Knowtel, and Nextumi. At Nextumi, he served as interim COO and was involved in securing the first round of funding for the company.
Mr. Dennis has an extensive background in sales, marketing, and manufacturing. His vision for electronic commerce and web-deployed applications dates back to early uses of the internet. He has published articles on electronic commerce and manufacturing information deployment over the web. He holds patents for 3D based view and markup technology that are currently being deployed in web browsers. Mr. Dennis graduated with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Evansville in Indiana and has completed work toward an MBA.
Matthew C. Heim, Ph.D., Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development
Dr. Heim has spent the past decade working exclusively in the areas of innovation strategy and open innovation. Most recently he served as President of NineSigma, a leading open innovation intermediary services provider. In this role, he led the Sales and Marketing teams, and developed a portfolio of new collaborative innovation services for clients across five continents.
Prior to his work at NineSigma, Dr. Heim spent nearly 20 years as Managing Partner and Global Practice Leader for KPMG Germany, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Clarkston Consulting, where he provided strategic advisory services and performed corporate turnarounds for Global 1000 companies in Europe, Asia and the USA. Matthew is also the author and co-author of five books, including the bestseller, A Guide to Open Innovation and Crowdsourcing.
Dr. Heim holds degrees from University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business, University of Maryland and the Fielding Graduate University, including a Ph.D. in Systems Science, an MS in Systems Management, an MA in Human Development and a BS in Computer Science.
Dave Theus, Vice President of Technology
Mr. Theus is a 15+ year veteran of delivering enterprise software solutions in Fortune 1000 globally. He has led teams in strategizing, architecting and delivering complete solutions to help companies improve their new product portfolios, accelerate time to market and ensure significant Returns on Investment. In this role, Mr. Theus is responsible for product strategy, management and development as well as leading the company's field operations/customer support.
Prior to joining inno360, Mr. Theus held various sales, services and support roles at MSC.Software Corporation and prior to that various Engineering positions at General Electric Aircraft Engines. He has established a proven track record for his leadership in opening and developing new markets as well as uncovering and managing complex enterprise programs. From deploying extensive custom software solutions to implementing existing technologies in new and unique applications, Dave and his teams have delivered critical path solutions for many of the leading companies in the Fortune 1000 and Fortune 500 in US and Europe.
Dave has a Master's degree in Aerospace Structures Engineering from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton. Dave is also a graduate of the General Electric Technical Leadership Development Program (formerly the Edison Program).
Senior Leadership Team
Steve Brinager, Lead Software Architect
Steve serves as the Lead Software Architect at inno360. Mr. Brinager brings 15 years of software engineering and architecture experience to the table. He has been a key player in planning and deploying several highly scalable Software as a Service products. Steve is responsible for overseeing the design and development of the company's core software platform.
Previously, Steve held development positions at Construction Software Technologies, ShareThis and America Online. He has proven to be a cornerstone for development teams providing insight and expertise in both server-side and client-side technologies.
Steve studied Computer Science at The University of Kentucky with a focus on Software Development and Systems Design.
Robert Medl, User Experience Architect
Robert serves as User Experience Architect at inno360. Mr. Medl is passionate about delivering a quality user experience across the inno360 platform. Working closely with both novice and experienced inno360 users, Robert employs a range of user experience research methods to gather quantitative and qualitative usability data, which in turn is used to improve the user experience for all inno360 users.
Robert came to inno360 with over 15 years of experience helping companies build a wide range of easy-to-use desktop and web-based applications for a wide range of user types. Prior to joining inno360 Robert was with Lexus-Nexus, Microsoft, eGain, and IBM. He is the primary author of four U.S. patents relating to user interface design and interaction.
Robert holds a Master's Degree in Cognitive Psychology from the State University of New York at Binghamton..
Derek Jackson, Director of Operations
Derek Jackson provides Human Resources leadership to inno360. He has a passion for talent acquisition and more than 20 years of experience within the Software, Information Technology, and Consulting Services industries both in Cincinnati and globally.
Prior to joining inno360 he has successfully built and implemented talent acquisition and management strategies for companies such as General Electric, Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC), Electronic Data Systems (EDS), and Affiliated Computer Services (ACS). He has also founded a successful HR Consulting Firm that specializes in Talent Acquisition and Management systems for technology start-up firms.
Derek holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of the Cumberland’s and he currently serves as a member of the Southwest Ohio Workforce Policy Board.
